Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID) is a congenital immunodeficiency that if not detected in the first few days of life invariable is fatal. Fortunately this is a very rare disease BUT for those with SCID that is not detected the consequences are devastating. Fortunately over the past several year new technology has emerged that allows the detection of SCID babies at birth.
